Winter Forecast

Familiar ping of icy droplets strikes the window pane,
Hits the pavement,
Snow, as forecast nestles between browned grass blades,
Winter has formally arrived,
Made itself known
With a frosted cold,
I am a small being,
Against the wind whispering chill upon my reddened cheek,
Against the magnitude of seasons taking place,
Against the backdrop of Earth and sky finding equilibrium,
Against the universe that goes on unfazed by changes over my head
— the life alerting weather shifts that fall down as soft white dust, building into great mountains,

Seasonal Clock

It is cold,
And the rain trickles down the panes,
Whispering of winter still to come,
And I resist acknowledging the inevitable,
As if my denial of consent,
Will keep the seasonal clock
Right where it is.

(Come Spring) Hope Restored

Come green,
Come new,
Come tender buds,
Come melt to show infant blades

Come rebirth,
Your Winter labor has been long,
Arduous,
Awake goddess,
Your time has come
To welcome back the birds,
To sing awake the rest

The sun now rests much later,
To let the children play,
Come great Spring
To take over for your sister Winter,
Her time has come to sleep

Come Spring,
And bring with you
The warmth of sun
And longer hours,
And the hope restored,
We have all been waiting for.

Winter Solstice

Winter darkness envelopes,
In thick smokey blankets,
The chill is deep and braces bones,
And in the splendor of white snow beauty
There is irony,
In the fear and loneliness of a winter abyss
That is so breathtaking,
And the Moon and sun see this
and shift their positions in the sky,
To warm and comfort the anxious
Lifeforms on earthen ground below,
And moon grows larger,
Glowing,
For longer light as the sun is farthest away,
“No,” whispers a silent voice
In the pitch,
“I’d never leave you,
Not that way”,
And so twinkle the diamonds
Of the sky,
the Moon lights the way,
As round the sun we go

Love Immortal

The light, the heat,
The electricity that generates
Our love,
The days grow longer and the sun closer,
But we more distant,
Distracted,
we forget we lose
Touch
with the genuine feeling,

Until we find it again
In the cold months,
And that love rebounds
Again, and again
and longs lasts into new summer heat
And withstand the slow death
Of the fall,
And rebirth from which we
Will spring,
But we will last,
Because our passion exploded
In the cold,

You are the snowman;
And I never created you,
I just gave you my heart,
and it brought you to life,
And you gave me your
Heart and soul,
And I was reborn,
And together
We made a
Love immortal.
