We are burning
We are bombing,
In a self-made Apocalypse,
Who will save us?
When thee who made us
Provided free will capacities,
This is on us,
Regardless of what you believe in,
Fix it, unless
You choose this end,
With riches and ash,
Profit and pain,
War and climate change,
Neighbors are fleeing,
A hell we have made,
And so many close eyes, head down, to pray,
“Do something!” The universe screams,
Your prayers alone are a selfish salve,
Ignoring your personal investment in this terror,
“Too little too late,” the skeptics say,
But why add fuel to this raging inferno?

But the Law Says
“But the law says…”
And so we never question right,
Nor wrong?
Assuming authorities have already mapped
It all out,
Foreseen the future,
And been unbiased parties in the development,
In the execution
Of said rules,
We are just meant to heed
What our overlords say,
Never question whether blind Justice
Has truly yet made her way.
Alabaster Anger
My thoughts and prayers are held captive,
By a sickness,
An ailment that will never be named
Though it’s alabaster anger
Terrorises our days,
we can do nothing but weep,
As we think,
And pray
Lashings
Masks, hoods
are off,
The lashings are linguistic,
Yet none less painful,
POCs nurse their wounds,
Tend their wounded,
And prepare for next moves,
Preparing for the inevitable
next attacks
Home
We are the meld
Of the melting pot
That they fear,
The unification of contradictions,
That makes it possible to think,
And not be compelled to remain within party lines,
We are the ones they fear,
They know they cannot control,
Because we know the story,
Know the game,
Know the values,
And are ready to play,
We are the ones told to “go back” from whence we came,
For attempting to be in,
and to fix a broken system,
And know there is silence when our less pigmented brethren do the same,
I am at once proud and ashamed,
And trying my best to be colored beneath a Star spangled banner,
A country that was never designed for me,
Or you, or you,
The oligarchy keeps the barriers in place,
And erects new ones,
Barbed wire fences,
To keep masses divided,
I am not your enemy,
Though I will be villainized for speaking my truth,
For not averting my eyes,
My identity will be used when convenient,
To make a xenophobic point,
Or alternatively for one to save face and prove they are not
Racist,
They fear not just vengeance for centuries of Injustice,
But passing, successes, rewritten social castes,
They fear reality,
That we have no place else to go,
Because this is,
as much for us,
as it is for them,
Home.
Cages
Kids kept in cages
Not in my name,
State sanctioned child abuses,
Not the first time,
Not the last
Liberty and Justice
Are not dependent on it,
Only tyrannical power
Needs pain and torment
Of the meekest,
Only evil ornate needs caged,
Tortured babies,
But not for my freedom,
Not this time,
Stand not for the inhumanity,
Of neglected,
unprotected,
stolen
kids in cages
