Departures

To become, I must go,
To come, I must go,
To places elsewhere,
On this plane,
In this eternity,
I must seek, so I may find,
This is a journey,
I was, and was not expecting to take,
My departure has arrived,
But know I shall return,
For you are my heart,
Now being pulled away,
But never severed from my soul,
My heart is big enough, full enough,
To take you with me,
Even when we are apart,
Distance cannot quell my love,
As the cosmos,
It is endless and withstanding time,
But I must go,
For moments merely,
That I know feel like eternities,
For that is how it feels to me,
Know that nothing
Could hold me back,
From returning to you,
For you are my being,
In a separate body,
My precious, beloved child,
No, Nothing,
Not Ice and snow,
Nor hurricane gale,

Nor hellfire,

Nothing love,
No,

Nothing.

Ransom Note: \/\/@R

Here come the politicians,
Up for reelection,
Let’s hear their stance,
Their campaign promises

Listen as bombs drop upon a distant shore

Here come the politicians,
Waist deep in controversy,
Scandal! Impeachment!
What to distract?
What to keep an audience hooked?

Plot twist!

Rain down the bombs upon another distant shore.

Here come the politicians,
What have you done?
It was necessary? Was justified?
For the American born!?

Here posted– the stars and stripes,
A pirate flag,
A heckler’s taunt.

Here come the politicians,
-Our president-
-Our leader-
Our King
has declared War,
To save face,
To save his post,
To reign
Supreme

This is not in our name,
But it is our signature,
Forged,
on this international Ransom note,

Red;
In blood,
Our hands are suddenly covered.

This Inferno

We are burning
We are bombing,
In a self-made Apocalypse,
Who will save us?
When thee who made us
Provided free will capacities,
This is on us,
Regardless of what you believe in,
Fix it, unless
You choose this end,
With riches and ash,
Profit and pain,
War and climate change,
Neighbors are fleeing,
A hell we have made,
And so many close eyes, head down, to pray,
“Do something!” The universe screams,
Your prayers alone are a selfish salve,
Ignoring your personal investment in this terror,
“Too little too late,” the skeptics say,
But why add fuel to this raging inferno?

Voice

Standing solo,
This is my uncomfortable spot,
But this is right where I need to be,
I call out,
And hear nothing,
But the sound of my own voice,
It is this voice that I am tasked with coming to know,
How close you are,
Originating from my center,
And yet how foreign you are to me,
Taking you in,
Taking you on,
I must come to know you
Like a separate being,
Alive, with wants, needs, desires,
I feed you my thoughts,
And must learn to be less self-conscious about them,
My fears threaten to starve you,
As they have before,
Voice,
I must aim to make you strong,
To let you mature with the taste of my tongue,
and the hum of my throat,
Like a babe I must learn to speak,
To have a voice.

The Space Between

Do you get lost sometimes
In the wondering,
If things had gone differently?
If perhaps you and I hadn’t,
Ended?
I do.
But then again I sometimes go back further,
And wonder what if,
We had never been.
–And I wouldn’t want that for the world!
In the time we were ‘us’
I became,
A grown woman,
Found my first real love,
My first real heartbreak,
Became stronger,
Became bolder,
Learned love wasn’t as clear and cut,
As a Hallmark,
I learned love could grow,
Could evolve,
Shift, morph,
Transcend time and space,
Love like ours does that,
Love like ours has its own language,
Love like ours is intangible,
yet it touches every nerve ending,
Pleasure and pain,
Love like ours stays with us,
No matter what we do,
Others might interpret this as guardian seraphim work,
But from what I feel I know it’s you,
We are connected,
No matter the space between,
From our fingers once intertwined,
I am still yours,
As you are mine.

Imminent Moments

So, so far we’ve come,
Through asteroids belts of adversity
To stand a little bit taller,
Nesting in the beings that we are,
Learning to be at peace
With that which is,
And to persevere in and through the unforeseen,
This has been a decade of change,
Of changes to self and globe,
Bringing us closer,
Pulling apart,
Colliding,
Fusing,
Becoming,
We measure in years and decades,
When it should be by the moments,
The incalculable fleeting moments that hold together our lives,
We should measure in lives we touch, lives we are touched by,
Measure in measures we’ve made,
Measure in the tiny variables that make up the time that slips away,
That we are left ten years later trying to collect from snapshot photos,
In the digital age we’ve taken for granted the picture,
Only to see them later, finding the looks,
Memories, emotions,
We almost missed,
Oh what comes next,
No one can quite guess,
It is with fear and excitement,
Enmeshed
That we take the polar plunge,
Into the moment to moment future,
As the clock strikes twelve,
Nothing is ever as more imminent
Than the very next moment.
