Your silence makes the blood
Run cold
Frustrates the barer of this tale
Who’s heart is strung up
On the sail
Upon a ship
Of collected stories
Lost out upon a raging sea
Just one moment
Of your time
They’ve entrusted so much
In me…

More wars are started
By your apathy
By what you’ve left unsaid
Wear a sentient heart
For once
Pray for more
Than your own
As you climb into bed
Dream of what could be
If I were you
And you were me
Now spin their silk
Weave their web
Remember
Word for word
What they’ve said
has it still escaped your soul?

Or are you now with them,
With me,
Lost upon the raging sea?

Child,
is it worth the forfeit
This life you think you know?
Never to meet the dawn
Nor the sunset
That is always
Anew

Child,
So young,
What do you know?
What does the world know
Of you?

Suffer the day
Fight until dusk
But determine to taste
The fruit born
Of your tears
To do so,
bask in another morn’ s sun
You must

If only my voice
Were as bold as my words
If only my words
Were as bold as my ink
If only I could go through life
With a pen in my hand
Maybe then
I wouldn’t be
So far behind
Maybe then you would understand

I’m not as brash
As my words on paper
I’m not as timid
As my unuttered syllables

It is here
On the blank
Of the page
That I can play my role
Here I can express
Everything at once
On center stage

Yet on my oneway telephone
I am always alone
I can make my declaration
To faces unknown
Feel a sense of pride
But nobody knows

Maybe I’ll solve world hunger
In a single proverb
Profess true love
In a sonnet
But it does not really matter
If no one else saw it

My words may be
Immortalized
For only my own eyes to see
Years later
Be the humiliation
Of noone else
But me

Bittersweet and yet
These are my words
Born of my heart’s womb
My private language
For the linguistically mute.

The tears you have cried
Are prayers
Each one
Don’t hold them inside

Hope for the future
Let go of the past
Your day will soon come
This pain will not last

Hold tight to your dreams
And though you may cry
Live for today
Tomorrow you’ll fly
