Maybe those lights
Need a break,
Because
The sun is out.

Homeostasis
I want to
climb you
–a tree,
Feel
your branches
Sprouted,
Under me,
Feel
the pulse
of nature,
Inhale the scent
Of your animal skin,
Feel
the texture
of your organic shape,
Sense
the shifts
in your equilibrium,
As you are shaped
And shifted,
To reach
Homeostasis;
In symbiosis,
With me
Earth Apprentice
The air is making music
A symphony of forest
Lakes, stream, ocean,
Crow line grass in meeting,
Rabbits burrow,
Fawn spring
Eagles soar above,
And her eyes read the nature
A foreigner
In this setting
Still she knows
This dampness in the air,
This heat,
Does not
belong so far north
Despite her domestication;
disconnect
From pieces of
the message
she does not get,
her animal instincts
engage
And she feels
the need
to learn
This return to nature,
She feels through her core,
She is the student,
And here she is studying.

Vicarious Summer Discovery
July 26, 2017
Cushion of soft, warm grass underfoot,
Fiery lick of sun upon skin,
Subtle scent of windblown fields,
Wind whispers through forest greens,
Distant roar of running motors,
Background chirp of busied birds,
And the vocal squeak and groan of children’s swings,
She vicariously relives
forgotten childhood memories,
Via her daughter’s green gaze
Of a midsummer wonderland
Starry Light
July 24, 2017
Over rustling cornfields
The soft bioluminescent glow
Of starry firefly lights
mirror a starry,
lavender sky
Nature comforts
Here and now
In the deep,
cricket chorus
of twilight
