Young sprouts
Tangle,
Engage,
Merging tales
Threading,
Through the ground
together,
Yet set apart,
Reaching up
At differing points
Finding own identities
As limbs branch
From the trunk,
Sourced by the same roots
Waxing poetic on thoughts, theory & the times

Tender buds
Do yearn to grow
Natural separation
Of the branches
Kin connecting
Tensions tighten, within
For the vines that burst forth
No value judgement
Passing, weaving
From the same root

I make myself bare,
Expose my soul,
Hoping he will see,
Will care,
Perhaps,
As he once did
I teeter,
Foolheartily,
Walking on a line
Of sanity
I weave my heartstrings
And hang my tapestry,
Aware,
indifferent
that the world can see.

From my distant view
I catch a semblance
Of burdens you carry
despite distance withstanding
My impulse remains
a need To carry
some of the weight
Somehow
Much like you have
More than once
For me
Please let me
Do so
for you
If you only could see
How much your being
Influences me
You might understand
Why I cannot
Pull back
My outstretched hand
Songs of the troubadour
Give me false pangs of hope
For a love that is not
Mine to call my own

Oh dearest love,
oh butterfly,
Stay a moment in my palm
For my pure adoration
Your camouflaged complexion
Fools my fickle eye
I hold tightly
Closer still
For fear that you will fly
And suddenly
As I try to calm
Thy fluttering
Dissolving
Thy powered wings
You die
Butterfly
How I have forgotten
How fragile you may be
My painted admiral
Lost within the chaos
My heart
My love
Reduced to fairy dust
