April Shower

Rain came,
With wind blowing in the cool mist,
The drops gently falling
To trace the contours of the dry land
Touching all in its midst;
Thirst is quenched,
If just for a day,
With this single spring shower;
Puddles collect within dimples of earth,
And slowly build,
Overflow,
And run freely as translucent ribbons,
Streams flowing,
Spreading,
Mixing necessary libations
Of and for life.

The Steps

I hear the moth tangled in the lamp
And the clock’s tick tick
Metronome,
And I am left with stray thoughts
Looking for a home,
Trying to delineate
Where things stand,
And how we do
This dance,
Never giving it a name,
And more interestingly,
How we already simultaneously know
The steps.

Toward a Happy Ending

I anticipated a winding road
For that is how my story often goes,
But something tells me
The next chapters
Are short and sweet,
But not lacking in their depth or content;
On a few pages more
There will be new revelations to find,
Hopes becoming truths,
And not just speculation
Nor just wishful thinking,
But manifestations of positive energy
Of karmic flow spiraling out
And being received,
By open hands
And open hearts,
To then be paid forward,
In this my tale,
Moving swiftly,
With the turning of pages
Toward a happy ending.

Inspired By

This poem is not inspired by a tragedy,
It is inspired by lives that lived,
Albeit shorter than expected,
Lives that lived
With truth and love and conviction,
In innocence,
This is for their individual lives of uniqueness,
That inspire still
Even once their visible light
Goes unperceived
By human senses

Treadmill

Try, I do;
Try, I did;
And the rug keeps slipping
Under me,
Know I am no stranger
To the impossible,
And so moving,
Running,
Racing
I try again,
Upon this endless carpet;
This treadmill of
My life.

Shifting Tides

Feel the pull
Of the tide
As it moves out
And collects;
Collects its expressed waves,
Feel the sand as it recedes from beneath bare feet,
All signs inform,
“It is coming,”
this next wave;
It is what you have been preparing for,
Bracing for;
Feel the shift in the air,
see the wave
As it emerges,
Now a crest
That too
Has been waiting;
Awaiting this very moment,
To crash;
Break
Upon the sand
Upon the rocks and shells,
And upon creatures
In its path,
Awakening, refreshing,
Anointing
With memories of the distant,
Bringing the far near,
To then recede,
With the shifting
Of the tide;

Again feel the pull,
How familiar this dance!
For we are
In all ways too
Moving with,
And as the tide.
