Knows Your Name

November 22, 2018November 22, 2018 ~ Vanessa ~ Leave a comment

And then come moments
When the gathering
is as good as the food,
When community need not look the same,
Where yesterday you may have been strangers,
But everyone is now family,
Here everyone knows your name

Table Divide

November 22, 2018November 22, 2018 ~ Vanessa ~ Leave a comment

The holiday
Brings us together,
To tear us apart,
Left and right,
Red and blue,
Black and white,
Whatever divisions we can find,
Round the table,
The war of difference
Our relations will find
to divide

Becoming “We”

May 28, 2017February 9, 2019 ~ Vanessa ~ Leave a comment

May 27, 2017

We let go
and pick up
where we left off,
before we found reasons
to separate

We find family
in memorial days

We reminisce
We share
We find reasons to be
together

All as we parade
our family
for all to see

We have once again
Become “we”.
