A Living Heart

At wits end I balance;

Balancing,
I tight rope walk on feet that are raw,
hold in a pulsating primal scream of release,
That might offend other’s ears;

A caregiver,
I gather the weight,
The pain,
The scars
and the “I just cant”-s in a container of compassion, composed of empathy;
My beating heart feels the pressure
To do and hold it all;
And to yet remain softened,
While the beating muscle toughens from use,
And so
At times I fall
I melt,
Like the tears from my own eyes,
I collapse into that of which I am most made
Water,
And of this substance
I may release,
Relax,
Soothe, and soak
heal a living heart,
And from this recompose.

Ends Meet

Where our ends meet
We recognize each other,
I to I,
Eye to eye,
We mirror,
We perceive the other,
To understand,
To recognize,
To accept,
To appreciate
Each other,
Sharing our intimate thoughts,
As if they are our own,
With clarity, we separate
But know we shall again return,
To this sacred connection,
For despite interruption
We are one;
our ends meet.

The Pilgrimage

Summer solstice came
As my footfalls returned me here,
And with them,
a great sea-change,
Of my shelled heart,
a cracking
And from it grew,
Bloomed,
Burst forth a greater
Beating vessel,
Capable of holding more,
The conflicting emotions
And complexities of what can only come
For out-growing fear,
Of learning what to take away from lessons learned
From this recent venture home and round again;
This–my pilgrimage.

Beware the Love Vandal

I do not fall easily,
But I fall hard,
I commit myself
To a hand,
Based on
possibility
And knowing
When
There is an inner goodness
Pulsing through with radiant beauty
That my own senses have perceived,
Thus, I am not who I was
Before,
–Back then eager, heart merely pure
with naiveté,
Now matured
My heart recognizes,
And knows to banish the love con,
For my Iove is still true,
Loyal,
And my loving worthy of one
who can truly love
Me;
May my good heart not be fooled
Again,
By a love vandal.

Experiencing Joy

Make the list,
And check the boxes,
Off,
One by one.
But never forget to leave one more,
Always check it
But never off,
This task– the simple,
Beautiful,
Necessary,
Preventative,
Supplement,
Medicine,
And cure
That is
Experiencing Joy.
