I am needed
At the front
Sign in hand,
voice loud;
heart.
I am needed,
Here I stand
6 feet apart,
We make a stand,
I am needed,
My life,
My skin,
As we teach
Our brethren
How to see,
Not my color,
But their own,
I am needed,
But I must be careful,
Privilege
Weaponizes good intentions,
Turning learners
Into hungry cannibals,
Devouring the teacher,
Despite the lesson,
I am needed,
I turn this thought over,
I am needed,
For many reasons,
But first I am
Needed for me,
For self, for love,
For family,
I am needed,
And so I must,
Alot my teachings,
To those I trust
Incense
Today I purchased lavender,
myrrh,
dragon’s blood,
frankincense
incense
now as I lay to sleep
the scents linger in my nostrils,
the gentle aromas play
with my imagination,
creating dreamscapes
for me to dream when I close my eyes.
Insomnia
How
We made love,
I can’t get out the thought,
The feeling out of my core,
I am drugged by the memory,
Of your body so deep,
Our breaths hushed whispers,
In each other’s ears,
I close my eyes alone,
And still cannot sleep,
My want of you
From afar,
Makes for a maddening insomnia,
Alas,
I have the intimate recollection,
Of your fingers on my skin,
And sleep becomes irrelevant,
For the dream
I’m already in
Darkest Night
This darkest night,
We long for light,
But wise eyes,
Will see it,
The burning of the ancient flames,
The distant stars,
We gift,
like diamonds,
meeting spots,
for hearts to see,
to feel the love,
that burns there,
still.
Effortless Romance
Its been forever
Since I’ve written you a love song,
Been forever since I gazed upon
The stars,
And knew you too were gazing back
Through space and time,
Knew my art
Was comfort to your soul,
Knew I could do only to your body,
What you still do to me,
Without a touch,
Without a glance,
Effortless romance.
Take Some Time
I’m scared
Of being open,
Of letting myself
relax
Enough to feel your touch,
Is it real?
Is this real?
Or just another illusion?
I can’t be,
won’t be,
taken for a fool,
again,
I leave my heart out,
But watch from a distance,
Guarded,
Prepared to snatch it back,
Should your ways appear
Less than
My heart,
She still hurts,
Weight of the past
Pulling,
With each beat,
Beating still,
Beating for you,
But I don’t trust anything anymore,
Familiar places and faces
Are now foreign to me,
Unfamiliar the motions,
For this dance of courtship
Is awkward,
And yet it pulls
Like a magnet,
The force making “us” natural,
Still
This heart she weeps,
Riddled With battle wounds,
This
is going to take
Some time.
