The muses they dance,
In a slow, sultry tango
One comes and one goes,
Across a white floor that glows
to life only for their minds.

Heart’s Truth
Go, follow your dream,
Step foot, the path will open,
Follow your heart’s truth,
For it beats with a purpose,
Beats to see your good will done.
(Come Spring) Hope Restored
Come green,
Come new,
Come tender buds,
Come melt to show infant blades
Come rebirth,
Your Winter labor has been long,
Arduous,
Awake goddess,
Your time has come
To welcome back the birds,
To sing awake the rest
The sun now rests much later,
To let the children play,
Come great Spring
To take over for your sister Winter,
Her time has come to sleep
Come Spring,
And bring with you
The warmth of sun
And longer hours,
And the hope restored,
We have all been waiting for.
Hard Decisions
Made with diligence,
And slowly contemplated,
The result unknown,
But with care put to action,
Intending the best results.
Rigged
My achievement was never
Bought and paid,
Never forged,
But made,
Of blood, sweat, tears,
Of sleepless nights,
Of doubting my abilities,
Suspecting,
Deep down knowing,
This system was rigged,
Yet yearning
For the validation;
From Wellesley, Smith,
Mount Holyoke,
Brandeis, Harvard,
The validation.
And then I got it,
Again and again,
And again,
And I walk away with genuine pride,
But anger,
After what it takes,
And what of self you lose,
To face
A system
That is
and has always been
A game
for the rich.
The Longer
The longer this goes,
The more I can’t bear to quit,
The deeper I fall
